Slain man buried

Gaetano Romano, who was found dead in an industrial oven in Buġibba, was laid to rest yesterday though the investigation into his death goes on.

Mr Romano's body was found with six nails in his head almost two months ago. His body was released last Tuesday.

No one has yet been charged in connection with the murder, which investigators believe took place after an argument got out of hand.

Police sources said the investigation into his murder was still open and added that they were waiting for "certain information" that might lead to developments.

Mr Romano's body was discovered by his father a day after his 20th birthday, on April 3, in the oven of his father's gypsum workshop in Damascus Street, Buġibba.

His father, Nicola, was abroad with his Moroccan wife but flew to Malta when his son failed to answer his phone calls.

The police were also open to the theory that his death could have been drug-related following the discovery of about 80 pills, suspected to be ecstasy, in the young man's home.
