Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi urged the public to vote in next Saturday’s election for the European Parliament.
“We only have five votes in EP, make the right, correct choice, but make sure to go and vote...,” Dr Gonzi said.
The Prime Minister was speaking during an activity in Fgura. He said it was important for the people to choose the best five people to represent Malta.
He said that a major difference with the Labour Party was that while Labour wanted to go to the EU, the PN wanted to bring the EU to Malta, to Maltese villages and families. It wanted the EU to be a useful tool for the Maltese.
The EU had given millions to Malta which were spent on infrastructure, including roads and waste treatment but numerous small projects bringing the EU to the village centre had also been carried out.
On the other hand, the Maltese had taken their values to the EU, as well as the perspective of a small country.
Malta made the EU sensitive to the illegal migration problem and pushed it to seek solutions which respected dignity and which reflected solidarity.
