Lenard Montoute, a government minister from St Lucia, was recently in Malta in connection with a project funded by the Small States Network for Economic Development (SSNED), of which St Lucia is a beneficiary state.

Mr Montoute is Minister for Social Transformation, Public Service, Human Resource Development, Youth and Sports. St Lucia is a small island state in the Caribbean.

The SSNED is funding this project with the objective of assisting the government of St Lucia, particularly the Ministry of Public Service, to implement their e-Government programme. Two senior executives from St Lucia are in Malta to gain first-hand experience on e-Government services in Malta.

The project is a practical example of how a small state like Malta can assist another small state in capacity building.

The SSNED, which has its secretariat in Malta, is committed to facilitate the exchange of 'best practices' among small states, to promote the increased integration of the concerns and interests of small states into the policies and programmes of the international community, and to undertake or support such related actions to further the sustainable development of its members.
