Police in France were yesterday searching for a British man after a murder investigation was launched following the discovery of a woman's body at one of Paris's most famous hotels, legal sources said.
Detectives were hunting the woman's 40-year-old ex-partner who had been staying with her in the Hotel Bristol, a favourite dining spot of President Nicolas Sarkozy and the international jet set.
The body of the Polish-born French woman, who was 36, was found on Tuesday in the bath of her suite in the hotel, a five-star retreat in one of the city's most elegant neighbourhoods, a short walk from Mr Sarkozy's Elysee Palace.
