Air Malta denies it stopped talks with cabin crew
Air Malta has denied that negotiations on a new collective agreement for cabin crew are at a standstill.
In a statement following the Union of Cabin Crew’s announcement yesterday that it will be restricting inflight services onboard Air Malta flights as from Monday, Air Malta said the union’s action was a surprise since during a meeting yesterday afternoon it was agreed that negotiations would continue and a meeting was scheduled for June 2.
Air Malta described the directive as unreasonable and said that apart from causing inflight service disruptions to its passengers, it came at a sensitive time when tourism arrivals to Malta were being negatively affected due to the economic recession.
The airline said it was reserving all its rights to protect its interests, the interests of its employees and the interests of its customers.
It reassured clients that safety on board would not be affected and that it was doing its utmost to minimise the inconvenience.

It does seem a little bit daft - "Work to Rule" - that means that you carry out your job by the rule book, in other words, properly - no short cuts.
Presuming that the work rules have been written by the employer at an agreed wage and the employee has agreed to carry out the work by taking the job in the first place, everyone should be happy.

Well said Joseph. Common sense should prevail all airlines are suffering and this attitude will give negative feed back to the customer.

Why is it that THE CUSTOMER ALWAYS GETS A BAD DEAL? The airline without employees cannot run and the employees without the airline don't have jobs, so take it out on the passenger, yes? Air Malta has some very conscious and very dedicated cabin crew please don't destroy them. I am referring this to both sides, please don't take it out on the passenger.
NO PASSENGER, NO AIRLINE, NO UNION...= NO JOB
A good example is Chrysler, GM, etc.
