The attitude adopted by the MOC, completely ignoring the point of our article and making a blatant attempt at humiliating Neil Agius and myself, is another major sign of disrespect to us and to the sport in general.
Neither of us expected to be selected for the games. We just wanted to raise the point that our ongoing progress is being swept under the carpet. This continued disrespect is clear in Joe Cassar's words (Times Way Off MQSs, May 23).
We would have expected more from the committee whose major role is to help us improve, not one that tarnishes our image. The stance that the MOC has taken is really disappointing.
Thanks to this year's World Championships, my motivation has never been so high. Neil and I are helping each other reach our goals, we are training hard and we are making sacrifices people dread to take. We are at the forefront of this year's national swimming team. In every major competition this year, we both excelled and have always reached our goals.
We have broken a total of eight individual and three relay national records between us. This year is the year in which most national records are being broken. We are accumulating valuable experience. We are learning more about the sport. We are fostering values which can be passed on to the next generation of swimmers. We deserve respect.
