The narrow winding streets of Żurrieq will provide a quaint backdrop for a re-enactment of a 16th century Maltese wedding tomorrow.
The nuptial feast starts at 6 p.m. next to the Xarolla windmill, which will double as the bride's residence. The public will be able to take part in the wedding march, with about 90 re-enactors.
The wedding ceremony for Matthew and Katarina - the groom and the bride - will be held on the parvis of St Bartholomeo's chapel. The crowd and the re-enactors will then proceed to the main square of the village for the wedding reception where folk singing, music and dance will "transfer" the people to the 16th century.
Food ticket holders will be able to enjoy a variety of over 20 traditional Maltese dishes with wine and coffee included.
Tickets selling for €15 are available from 9947 2288/7905 9028 or by dropping an email to culturescbs@gmail.com. Tickets for children aged 10 and younger cost €12. Advance booking is highly recommended.
The event is organised by the culture sub-committee within St Catherine's Band Club of Żurrieq.
