MEPA has granted a permit to Nationalist MP Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando to hold a party on his fields in Mistra tomorrow. The party will be organized for Nationalist EP candidate Alex Perici Calascione.

"The permit has been issued and the party will be held tomorrow. The permit conditions, which are common sense conditions, will obviously be fully respected," Dr Pullicino Orlando told timesofmalta.com.

He said the site would be restored after the event.

"I cannot understand all this fuss about such an innocuous matter," Dr Pullicino Orlando said.

The Times reported yesterday that the Prime Minister would not be attending the event because the Nationalist Party's policy with regard to MEP candidates' events dictates that Dr Gonzi attends just one event per candidate.

A PN spokesman said: "Dr Gonzi attended an event organised by Dr Perici Calascione last Thursday and, hence, he will not be present for the event on May 30".

Environmental NGOs had voiced concerns about the party and urged MEPA not to issue the permit.
