Gonzi and Muscat debate on timesofmalta.com
The first political debate on the internet between Lawrence Gonzi and Joseph Muscat was recorded yesterday at the studios of timesofmalta.com.
It will go online on Sunday in what is a first for the domestic media scene.
The debate, chaired by the deputy editor of The Sunday Times, Herman Grech, saw the two leaders lock horns, albeit in a very calm and civilised way, on a number of issues.
The 30-minute tit-for-tat touched on hot topics like immigration, healthcare, jobs and divorce.
But, the exchange also had its lighter moments when the leaders were asked to say what they admired in each other. Dr Gonzi said Dr Muscat brought a different approach to politics from his predecessor Alfred Sant and the Opposition Leader highlighted the Prime Minister's resilience in winning last year's election.
The leaders also took questions from opinion writers and bloggers.
The debate will be uploaded on timesofmalta.com on Sunday morning.

Can't believe that PM Gonzi is still trying to convince us that 7000 new jobs were created in 2008! He knows it's not true this was confirmed by official figures. And yet he, as well as his EP candidates continue to harp on it, even proclaim it on an election bill-board. How low can you go?!

Even Dr Gonzi is admiring the 'different approach to politics' brought about by Dr Muscat.
