Charged with attempted escape from 'accommodation centre'
A 23-year-old Palestinian was remanded yesterday in custody after pleading not guilty to trying to escape from the Ta' Kandja "accommodation centre".
When he appeared before Magistrate Antonio Micallef Trigona, Hbib Hamdi denied he tried to escape from what the prosecuting officer described as an "accommodation centre" rather than a detention centre.
The alleged escape attempt happened at 2 p.m. on Wednesday.
Police Inspector Edel Mary Camilleri prosecuted.
