Bishop's advice for EP elections

I am rather disappointed that there are no ''election directives'' from our bishops concerning the illegal immigration issue. And concerning the need to put the NATIONAL INTEREST BEFORE ALL OTHER INTERESTS WHEN VOTING.
As to the need to ''safeguard workers' social rights'' surely the Bishops must know that of the rights workers once had no longer exist. ''Work, work and more work'' has become the new Maltese Credo. Why even pensioned off oldies now NEED to do part-time work to keep up with the ever rising cost of living. Do our Bishops notice these things or not? There are many employees who on paper have 40 hour week contracts but who in reality, week in week out, work 48 hour weeks - and even more! And nobody seems to mind! As for ''being sensitive towards the environment'' I guess this applies to everybody - citizens, administration, church, etc. Environment excesses and blunders are made by one and all.

Now that they told us what they are going to do, we will do what we SHOULD, and vote with respect for all. Civil rights before religious rights.

Well done dear bishops. Let's not be afraid of the modern"champions" of human rights for all except for us Catholics. Tolerance for all except for the church. A society heading for its downfall. Our only Saviour is Jesus as our bishops so rightly show us.

Go on, threaten with excommunication those who vote for so and so.

Horror of horrors, nudist beaches, divorce, gay marriage, cohabitation, condoms, the morning after pill, turning back illegal immigrants. What is this Catholic country turning into?

The vote belongs to the individual and it is not the bishops' business what the individual does with his or her vote - where was the church when the Maltese families were and are under strain because of the utility bills - they did not speak out, because it is not their business, I suppose.

When will the church learn that State and Church in this country are separate and they should not interfere with each other? Unfortunately Civil rights in this country will never move forward because of church interference....

basically he is saying: not vote for people who agree with civil partnership for homosexual couples and not vote for those who agree with divorce. Great job.

@ Adrian Aquilina...you forget to continue the sentence..."we are individuals.." and will be judged one they through our deeds...its not homophobia but respect towards the human dignity...putted down by the "modernist" ideas but which remains a holy truth.

@ Julian Borg...the advice of the bishops goes to Catholics and to all those people of good will...ever heared about "Il-Gid Komuni". The Church has the right to speak, to open the eyes of her children. If the Church has no right to talk about politics, where is the freedom of speech...the bishops are too citizens as you are and have the right to express there opinion.

@ sinagra...there is no need to explanations...we know who is speaking about divorce, sort of new marriages, etc. Just read and listen what they say....who is speaking of giving new rights for the minorities is he understanding even abortion?...the answer is not clear because these are to a minority

Lets see what happens...

we should choose meps who would vote to stop the church interfering in peoples lifes with the churches divisive,homaphobic,women hating,free thinking hating,individuality hating ,out dated rules..personel choice is still a human right..we are individuals..

Ok . . . so now we also have the advice of the bishops.

Can they also indicate to us, their poor misguided brethren, who they feel fits their tall order so we can avoid making mistakes and follow their example when voting?
