I would like to congratulate the Malta Football Association for living up to its reputation. The organisation of last Sunday's game between Valletta and Hibernians was a disgrace. Can someone in authority answer the following questions?

With such an anticipated game and a large turnout, why did the MFA leave it till 2.35 p.m. to open the gates and only open two of the four gates on the south end entrance?

Why were the gates to the enclosure closed, with seats still available on the Valletta side?

Why were people still being charged €8 when the enclosure gates were closed? (It should also be noted that this was also done during the last Valletta and Floriana game, except the gates were not closed but the enclosure was so full that there was no other option but to sit in the south end).

Why are the seats always so filthy and why aren't they cleaned before such a match as is usually done in national stadiums abroad?

Why is bottled water taken away from spectators before entering the gates and then not have enough supply on sale to meet the demand? (On Sunday, water in all the outlets on the Valletta side were sold out before the game even started.)

These are points that someone needs to take responsibility for. Or maybe the answer is quite simple: The MFA are only concerned with the amount of revenue such games generate and couldn't care less about anything else including the safety of the spectators!

My plea to the MFA is, please, treat paying spectators with respect and dignity and stop taking us for a ride!
