Cannabis finds lead to two separate arrests

Two men were arrested in separate cases after they were found in possession of cannabis resin, the police said yesterday.

In the first case, the police received a tip-off that a 30-year-old man from Baħar iċ-Ċagħaq was involved in drug trafficking. Drug Squad officers monitored him closely for a number of days before intercepting him in Swieqi.

Under the seat of the car he was driving, the police said they found nearly a kilo of cannabis. In the second case, the police arrested a 39-year-old from Msida who was allegedly caught in possession of 150 grams of cannabis resin and an amount of cash.

Duty Magistrate Lawrence Quintano has launched an inquiry and appointed a number of experts to assist him.

The police said the men were expected to be charged in court in the coming days.
