The President of FimBank plc, Margrith Lütschg-Emmenegger, recently delivered a speech on "The Financial Crisis: Implications for Trade Finance and Growth" as part of the World Bank Institute's course on Export Development and Diversification, held between May 18 and 22 in Washington DC.
The course was organised by the World Bank Institute Poverty Reduction unit in the context of a broader World Bank Institute Export Development and Diversification learning programme. The initiative was aimed at providing a comprehensive insight into export development and diversification challenges, integrating various factors, institutions, policies and principles necessary for expanded production, accelerated growth and diversification of exports in developing countries.
Course participants included trade policy-makers, advisors, researchers and private sector operators from agriculture, industry and services. The event also saw the participation of representatives of export support institutions and development institutions from all over the world.
