The Malta Union of Teachers said this evening that the directive it issued yesterday for teachers to work to rule also applied to Church school teachers. The directive comes into force on Monday.

The union said the government's failure to give the teachers improved allowances also affected Church school teachers and their pay packets were directly related to the respective grades in the civil service.

Indeed, the government, in its computation of the cost of the union's request had included the Church school teachers.
