Barrot to make burden-sharing proposals to EU ministers
The EU’s College of Commissioners has formally instructed Justice and Home Affairs Commissioner Jacques Barrot to present proposals to help ease the burden of illegal immigration on countries such as Malta. Immigration was discussed at a meeting of the college today.
The proposals will be presented at a meeting of Home Affairs Ministers later this month.
They are expected to range from financial incentives for member states to share the burden of immigration, to added financial and logistical help to Libya which will go towards controlling immigration and strengthening the UNHCR office in Tripoli so that it can be in a better position to receive requests for protection by migrants.
Maltese Home Affairs Minister Carm Mifsud Bonnici himself proposed strengthening the Tripoli UNHCR office last month.
Mr Barrot visited Malta last March for a fact-finding mission on the migration problem and promised to make proposals for the EU to ease the migration burden. He earlier also visited the island of Lampedusa.

You vote for the PN MEP's at your own risks. Weghdiet galore come quick before election times, quickly vanish in thin air after elections. Barroso said last week that illegal immigration is NOT an issue. Barroso said this with confidence because the People's party have the majority in the EU Parliament. Voting for the People's Party, that is PN MEP's is like voting for the continued lanca wara l-ohra gejja! They order we pay! Vote for Malta do NOT vot e for PN!

This burden sharing will only increase the problem and will simply not work. It already failed and is a total waste of time.

Don't count yoru chickens before they hatch Briffa.
How many Ministers do you think would be ready to compromise their position and their country's position by accepting ILLEGAL immigrants and a compulsory burden sharing agreement?

WELL DONE CARM MIFSUD BONNICI AND SIMON BUSUTTIL! THIS GOES TO SHOW - NOT THAT ONE NEEDED FURTHER PROOF - THE POWER OF PERSUASION OF THE PN AND ITS MEPS. ANOTHER PROOF THAT IF ONE LOVES ONE'S COUNTRY, THERE IS NO OTHER WAY BUT TO VOTE FOR THE PN AND FOR ITS MEPS (WARTS AND ALL) IN ATHE ELECTIONS. LABOUR LACKS DIRECTION, THEY LACK INITIATIVE, THEY LACK EXPERIENCE AND TACT, THEY JUST BLOW HOT AIR AND MAKE FOOLS OF THEMSELVES BY THINKING THAT ALL THE MALTESE ARE MORONS. THEY ARE ONLY GOOD TO ALARM THE PUBLIC, MAKE MOUNTAINS OUT OF MOLEHILLS, THEY MOAN AND GROAN ALL THE TIME, AND THEY ARE IN THE SEVENTH HEAVEN WHEN SOMETIMES THINGS DON'T GO WELL WITH THE PN ADMINISTRATION. BUT STILL THEY SAY 'MALTA L-EWWEL U QABEL KOLLOX.' ALL THEY WANT IS POWER, BUT WOE TO MALTA IF THEY GET IT. WE WILL ALL SUFFER, AND GOODBYE TO THE GOOD LIFE WE ARE ENJOYING DESPITE THE GLOBAL RECESSION. THE NUMBER OF NEW CARS ON THE ROAD - INCLUDING BMWs MERCEDESES, SPORTSCARS - SAYS IT ALL. LABOUR IS PATHETIC AND DON'T LET THEM FOOL YOU. SHOW THEM THAT YOU ARE SMART AND DESERVE BETTER..
