Video interview: Mintoff was inclined to take over our party – John Zammit
Former Prime Minister Dom Mintoff had appeared to want to take over the Liberal Democratic Alliance, according to alliance EP candidate John Zammit. He had asked for a list of the committee and wanted to remove so many people from it, it would have been practically dismantled!
Mr Zammit also claims that Mr Mintoff had actually decided to stand for the last general election, but then changed his mind.

I had so many things to say but the interview was too short! Still I thanks the Times of Malta to interview me. But I wish to add that if I am elected I will join the third largest political group in the European Parliament: ALDE/ELDR and this group holds the key to the laws passed by the EP and both the EPP and PES need their support because ALDE/ELDR have the casting vote. So it will be better for Maltese to vote for me and elect me and have an MEP in another group than with only EPP and PES.
