Body cleared for burial

The body of the young man who was found dead in an industrial oven in Buġibba almost two months ago has been released and will buried on Saturday.

Gaetano Romano, 20, was found dead on April 3, just a day after his birthday, and an autopsy the following morning revealed six nails embedded in his skull.

Investigators initially believed a nail gun was used to shoot them but it later emerged they could have been hammered in because no such tool was found.

The gruesome murder was discovered by his father Nicola, who was abroad with his Moroccan wife at the time and flew home when his son failed to answer his phone calls.

To date, no one has been arraigned in connection with the murder, which investigators believe took place after an argument got out of hand.

The funeral will be held at 2.30 p.m. at the Qawra parish church, followed by burial at the Burmarrad cemetery.
