Real Parliament in Europe soon - Josie Muscat
The real Parliament would soon be the one in Europe and it made sense to elect representatives who were motivated by a sense of duty and patriotism, Azzjoni Nazzjonali leader Josie Muscat said yesterday.
AN's campaign trail yesterday took the party to Rabat, where Dr Muscat insisted that on illegal immigration his party had been proved right.
He rebutted criticism that AN MEPs would be weak because they would not form part of any political grouping in the European Parliament. He defended his party's choice because AN wanted to form only those alliances that would work for Malta.
"Where was the Popular People's Party when Malta faced problems because of illegal immigration? Where was the second largest group in the EU Parliament, the Socialists? How many of these stood up to propose alternatives to the prevailing situation?" He criticised those who had labelled AN fascist when it suggested that boat people, once helped, should be sent on their way. "Would the government call Italy fascist for doing the same thing?" Dr Muscat asked.
Dr Muscat said AN was much more than a single-issue party. "It was up to the people to decide whether to free themselves from the two-party stranglehold over their brains. The people need to send to Europe those who would dare to stand up to Europe and not simply enjoy the good life there," Dr Muscat concluded.

@ D Vella: Still believing the Guantanamo nonsense, so if Gonzi tells you that he saw the UFOs you will believe him as well.
@ P Cilia: Look who's talking about energy saving! The way you talk shows how much you don't actually know what is happening in the EU parliament, but instead ad nauseam you repeat like a parrot what Gonzi and PN say.

Everything that AN proposed at the inception of their party is proven right. Dr Josie Muscat is right when saying is the Maltese government going to call the Italian government a fascists government or is this Maltese government only brave when throwing stones at it's own people. I urge the Maltese to send a big message and vote AN this coming election.

GET A LIFE L Galea . . . committed to work in the interests of your country like the PL . . . . MY FOOT!!! . . . . . . . like doing all they could to keep Malta out of Europe in the first place even AFTER the sovreign will of the people had been unmistakably established . . . like when they actively attempted to prevent Malta from obtaining EU funding and when the Labour Stooges in the EU Parliament voted IN FAVOUR of potential terrorists from Guantano Bay being accepted into Europe . . . ! Sure just like the PL ! ! !

Mr. Galea: I think we can safely say that past performance by PL MEPs was very energy saving and rather low on output (pun WAS intended here!) - poor attendance; confused voting; very little consultation with fellow MEPs and certainly poor coordination of one's digits in taking votes! What more proof do we need in our attempt to weed out those who are definitly a waste of space in the EP?

You have to be committed to work in the interests of your country like the PL to be of real benefit for your country and not in the interests of the EU like the PN.

The EU Parliament is certainly an important stepping stone to deliver tangible and proactive policies that will improve the quality of life for Maltese and Gozitans. The important thing to remember is that the electorate must consider their duty to ensure that the key to this door on Malta's future should be in the hands of those trustworthy enough to believe in Europe and the opportunities from membership. Working in Europe for the islands depends on this commitment and conviction - we can ill afford to depend on people who are unsure, who do not have commitment or conviction and who resort to destructive criticism. On the 6th June we need to take responibility to ensure that for the next six years we do not give a chance to sceptics or opportunists who are only after the rather lucrative pay packet - we need doers not lookers!!!!
