AD chairman urges people to vote in June 6 election
Alternattiva Demokratika chairman Arnold Cassola yesterday called on Air Malta to ensure that people abroad who had the right to vote would not encounter any problems.
Prof. Cassola said people called him to complain that they were finding it hard to get through to Air Malta to make the necessary arrangements to come and vote in the European Parliament elections on June 6.
He picked on a statement the Prime Minister made during a meeting with hunters a few days ago during which he warned them that there was a real possibility that the sixth seat would go to AD. Prof. Cassola condemned what he termed as a scare-mongering tactic but welcomed Lawrence Gonzi's admission that the sixth seat could go to AD.
"Is the Prime Minister trying to scare people from voting for the party that wants to work in favour of clean air? Is Gonzi trying to scare people from voting for higher environmental and public health standards?"
Voter abstention in the European Parliament election is also cause for concern for AD with only 13 days to go. Prof. Cassola appealed to those who did not plan to vote in the forthcoming election to send a clear message by voting for the Green party. He insisted that by not voting people would not change anything.
"The clearest and strongest message is to go out and vote and to vote for Alternattiva Demokratika. This will mean that after 47 years of a suffocating duopoly, a clear and credible voice will be elected in a nationwide election," he said.
He also urged voters to choose the best people from all parties.

Well said Mr. Morana, but if i were you i'd do some home work?? Who writes back whenever AD is criticized??? Whenever PN or PL are criticized they never bother to write back, but re AD there are some 'members' who's job is to attack criticizes AD. Hehehe finally someone realized that ADPL are one and the same, and that the european green - red coalition really exists, unlike what Dr. Cassola said a few days ago that it's not true. Not true my eye Dr. Cassola. You know the story of Pinocchio i guess eh!!!

I. Galea are sure your undies are not black?
A vote for AD and Cassola is a vote to more Marxism and defunct liberalism. Green from outside and redder in the inside than PL.
Keep dreaming Profs.

Dear AD members, you are so blind that you do not differentiate between personal and political. I don't hate you, hate takes too much energy and it's not in my character to hate, but i dislike your policies, which i assure you it's totally different from hatred. As to not being diplomatic - diplomacy means saying the nastiest of things in the nicest of ways - or sending a person packing in such a way that he actually looks forward to the trip.

@Patrick Cilia It seems you want to show lack of credibility in AD as a political party. I think GonziPN's fears of AD (both during this campaign, worse still last General election) prove you are quite wrong.

ok here are my comments to: Mr. Borg: Agreed the AD has been around since 1987, although it like to call itself a political party it is more of a very useful and proactive lobby group that is essential in any democracy. I do not think that the italian parliament election has much relevance to any good that may have come for Malta and Gozo, so it is rather extracurricular, in my opinion. Mr. Galea: It is pathetic to see your dialogue degenerate into such awful and offensive comments without giving credit where credit is due. Let me take you on a little journey for information. Consult the PL manifesto and look up the policies on environment which state: Point 15 (Page 10) : In a scenario of global uncertainty regarding energy supplies, Labour MEPs will clsoely follow developments......in order to ensure that Malta derives maximum benefit in terms of regular energy supplies and advantageous pricing for the benefit of Maltese and Gozitan Consumers" - How this jars with the recent wrangle by the PL over the Wind farms project!

@ Richards
one would expect that you of all people, should be more diplomatic and objective in your comments!
You are accusing AD of taking everything on a "personal level", "slandering & tarnishing reputations"??
Are you serious? If you personally or anyone you're representing feel you were, pls be factual and spell your case out!
When one considers that Dr.Gonzi dismissed any coalition talks with AD before the last election, simply because he felt "offended" by critisism that AD had directed at his way of managing his cabinet and their deeds...........
and this "offence" in GonziPN's own words risked a Sant government.....
which was averted by just a few hundered votes.......
the persons who are really credible and consistent are easily identified.

Patrick Cilia, Margaret Richards
History proves that the PN always believed in making Malta a foreigners colony.
First under the Italians and looked forward to achieving this aim under Mussolini. Remember the black shirts etc.?
Than they changed their stance and made Malta a colony of the eu colonialist petty dictators.
No wonder the PN was said to be the CURSE of Malta.

@ Cilia
Pls get your facts right
AD has been around after the 1987 election - that's 20 years ago.
Since inception it has promoted green policies that seek to enhance a sustainable quality of life. Throughout the years AD has been labelled tree-huggers, a dozen cats, crazy.....and other non-mainstream adjectives that the main political parties cherish themselves with.
Your comment about the EU is sickening when you consider that AD lent the EU accession campaign a credible and objective face - amist the polarised PN-MLP clash. Only to be pushed aside by the PN government as soon as the eve of the 2003 election.
More to the point, AD have over the years exposed the PN government double standards with regards to upholding and effectively implementing EU directives - especially those environment relating......or is it only convenient to remember the dark 80's but not the charades by politicians who are still in office?
AD, in Arnold Cassola has a dedicated individual who has great influence with the Greens in the EP (having been Secretary General), and also is acknowledged throughout Europe - as evidenced by his election to the Italian parliament with the "European foreign based vote".

It seems that the Fair Trade coffee just makes Dr. Cassola dream and dream big. Quote 'He Prof. Cassola condemned what he termed as a scare-mongering tactic but welcomed Lawrence Gonzi's admission that the sixth seat could go to AD.' Thanking Dr. Gonzi for 'admitting' that the 6th seat will go to AD is nothing but grasping at a last straw in desperation. Where is your 'yes we can'??? Is it already forgotten??? I assure you that AD WILL NOT GET THEIR HIGHLY HOPED FOR 6TH SEAT, not because of scaremongering but because of your inconsistencies, your continuous U turns, your babyish ways of taking everything on personal level, (god forbid you'll be in parliament because by the 1st day you'd have made enemies of one & all) and last but not least due to your continuous slandering & tarnishing people's reputations -people who's main interest was to criticize you in a constructive manner. But you are too high & mighty to take constructive criticism. For all these reasons - yes you can - just dream of the 6th seat!!!

Yes, people need to vote on the 6th June for those candidates who represent the party that has believed in the EU for over thirty years - in those days the AD, AN and MLP never believed we could be members let alone benefit the billions we were allocated in the last five years! The question is : Do we want to continue to benefit for the next five years of this crucial time of EU membership or would we rather stagnate and look on as others plough ahead?
