I wish somebody from the Malta Transport Authority, or any other authority, would enlighten me as to where residents, especially senior citizens, of the Tal-Qroqq area can catch a bus to take them to Mater Dei Hospital to attend their outpatient visits?
I recently had to visit the hospital myself and, although I usually go on foot, even though I am a senior citizen, this particular day I decided to take the bus. I waited for a period of time on the Valletta-bound bus stop, near the University roundabout.
I was under the impression that some time back number 75 buses coming from Valletta towards Mater Dei went around the roundabout to pick any waiting passengers.
While I was waiting I noticed a number 75 bus going up Regional Road and straight on to the Birkirkara bypass, leaving me, and any other possible passengers, stranded.
When I enquired with a driver of the Valletta-bound bus, he told me that no bus stop existed in the mentioned area for passengers wanting to travel to Mater Dei Hospital.
So I came to the following solutions: Those persons living in the Tal-Qroqq area, and who are blessed with old age, should either have their own car or else walk to the nearest bus stop that takes you to Mater Dei from opposite the Msida church. Another solution is to do as I did: Walk!
Who was it that said it suits you to use public transport? But not in Malta!
