I must air my views publicly to complain about what seems to be plain inefficiency by the Malta Transport Authority. Over a month ago, I bought a Japan-imported second-hand car from a local dealer.

The latter is still waiting to complete the car registration process and have the number plates delivered by the ADT, which is dragging its feet on the flimsy excuse that a backlog exists.

Had this issue occurred at the start of the year, when the government introduced a radical reform in the car licensing system, such a long waiting period would have been expected.

Four months have elapsed since then. Japanese second-hand car dealers have been saddled with ADT inefficiency despite pleas for expediency made on their behalf by their lawyers. Their business is at a standstill and customers have to keep their purchased cars garaged. It seems that some ADT executive is stalling the whole process by taking ages to determine the carbon emission levels of Japanese-manufactured second-hand vehicles.

It's a disgusting and exasperating experience having to wait ages for such trivial formalities - that normally would take a few days to settle - to be completed.
