Nationalist campaigner Yves Calì, who is involved with Simon Busuttil's election campaign team, writes to chastise Alternattiva Demokratika for daring to say that we are ready to work with the Labour Party on issues where there is a certain level of agreement (May 18).

He conveniently fails to mention AD's campaign in favour of EU accession, which in a Maltese bi-polar "black or white" way of doing politics put AD in a de facto alliance with the PN on that issue.

I urge Mr Calì to move away from the politics of prejudice and tribalism. The "us and them" mentality is passé. We look forward to cooperating with anyone and any party on different issues on which there is agreement. The babaw mentality is a thing of the past for us. In an article, A Parliament That bites, on April 9, 2008.

Dr Busuttil himself spoke "on the high level of cooperation of my group with the Socialists". Mr Calì please note!

Further comment is superfluous.
