AZZOPARDI. On May 20, DENIS, aged 71, went to meet the Risen Lord, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He is deeply mourned by his beloved wife Marion, née Pace, his daughters Noelle and her husband Norbert Zahra, Claire Diacono, and Alison and her husband John Stivala, his grandchildren Luke, Timmy, Katrina, Ben, Daniel, Amy and Andie, his beloved sister Connie Naudi Manche and his brother Vincent and his wife Thilde, in-laws, numerous relatives and friends, especially members of the Muscular Dystrophy Group, the Catenian Association and the Sovereign Military Order of Malta. Funeral Mass will be celebrated tomorrow at 2.30 p.m. at Stella Maris parish church, Sliema. Since Denis willed his body for scientific research, his remains will not be present at the Mass. The family wishes to thank all those who in any way gave their help and support to Denis throughout his long illness.

COLEIRO. On May 21, at Sir Paul Boffa Hospital, JOSEPH, aged 78, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his great loss his devoted wife Yvonne, his sisters and brothers, Rose Attard and husband Charlie, Pinu and wife Osanna, Pawlu and wife Salvina and Ninu, his in-laws Arthur and wife Rita, Salvinu and wife Gina, Victoria Friggieri and husband Alfred, Albert, widower of Maryanne, Pompei, widow of Pawlu, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Sir Paul Boffa Hospital today at 9 a.m. for Stella Maris parish church, Sliema, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9.30 a.m., followed by interment in the family grave at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Ursuline Crèche, Sliema. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

MAGRO. On May 21, at St Vincent de Paul residence, GIOVANNA of Floriana, aged 83, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Victoria and her husband Stanley Scerri, Publius and his wife Lucia, Marika and her husband George Whelpdale, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her brothers Joseph Balzan, Charles Mair and Fr Publius Mair, OFM Cap, her sister Agnes Mair, their respective spouses and families, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves St Vincent de Paul residence tomorrow at 8.30 a.m. for St Publius parish church, Floriana, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9 a.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

Earth Garden debate

A discussion on whether we are properly taking the necessary environmental measures will be held tomorrow at 6.45 p.m. during Earth Garden in Ta' Qali. The discussion will feature Alternattiva Demokratika chairman Arnold Cassola, Nationalist Party European Parliamentary candidate Alan Deidun, Labour Party MEP candidate Edward Scicluna, Azzjoni Nazzjoni MEP candidate John Spiteri, the chairman of the Climate Change Committee David Spiteri Gingell and Green Dot Malta chief executive officer Mario Schembri. Charity marathon

St Theresa College will be holding a marathon of activities in aid of the Community Chest Fund from May 29 to 31 at the Girls' Junior Lyceum in Mrieħel.
