A few days ago a friend of mine sent me a link to a video on a well-known internet site. This video was made by the crew of a popular Italian show.
It depicted a presenter going to the Ħal-Far detention centre asking irregular immigrants about their situation. Without any doubt, these fellows criticised their maintenance and accused the Maltese forces of being harsh with them. I see this video as being a forged insult towards us Malta citizens. I can't understand who gave them permission to film. How can we shoot ourselves in the foot? When will we learn not to be so "loose" with our neighbours? The result will be negative on our traditional friendly hospitality.
This video contributes to the misconceptions disseminated through news organisations which are portraying Malta as some sort of a black sheep. Are the accusers only able to do this rather than help the country and assist these immigrants to lead a new life? Everybody is good at pointing fingers but we lack gentlemen.
I'm angry at the fact that this Italian presenter was given the green light so easily while we've been stabbed in the back. Italians have a certain charm. And we fall for such cheap tricks.
