Embellishments at Wied iż-Żurrieq
We refer to the article Wied iż-Żurrieq Gets Facelift (May 21) and would like to point out that at least two of the points reported in the article are misleading as they are outside the scheme agreed with Qrendi local council.
"... the resurfacing of the quay with coloured concrete" is not even shown in the drawing 02 agreed upon in the relevant meetings between Qrendi council, MTA and the architects. This drawing clearly indicates that the finish of the quay would be "in situ concrete brush finish" only and not with coloured concrete. Qrendi local council never accepted the idea of coloured concrete on the quay. One more point that is not part of the scheme is the building of a shelter for those waiting for boat trips because of limited space in the boarding area.

Sur Sindku,
Thanks for the clarification. It is important that Wied iż-Żurrieq remains natural, not only on the surface but in all aspects, for all to enjoy. Looking at Wied iż-Żurrieq from the road above, one may notice that the 'estuary' is the shape of a womb. Submitting it to what in other comments was labelled "the Disney effect" would be tantamount to rape.
I hope and trust that the Qrendi Local Council has the interests of its people and visitors at heart.
Many thanks
