More damage at Romeo Romano gardens
A boy has admitted to damaging a statue in the middle of a fountain at Romeo Romano Gardens in Sta Venera, saying the damage was caused when he hoisted himself to get a ball.
Mayor Elizabeth Vella told timesofmalta.com that residents called at the council on Tuesday evening to inform councillors that a group of youthshad vandalised the statue, which had been beheaded in an earlier spate of vandalism.
The councillors informed the police and went to the gardens where they found a group of young people, one of whom - a minor, admitted to damaging the statue while getting a ball.
The police are investigating.
A few days ago vandals used drip irrigation pipes to pull down a statue in the middle of another fountain in the same garden.

Francesca Abela, If daddy pays I don't think the boy will learn.
Daddy cannot do community work for him and lets face it scooping dog crap off the pavement ain't exactly something you'd want to do again.

@KM Vella,
Get to the round about that takes you to (if coming on Triq San Guzep Hamrun) to the left to triq il kanun (Qormi) Straight on triq L-Mdina (the one with aquaducts) the one on the right to fleur-de-Lys (To B'Kara) the next take you back to Triq San Guzepp (To Hamrun) - take Hamrun direction again (from the round about). On the left is Centru Hidma socjali (The imposing building) further on is a petrol station, indicate to the left (as if ur going to Santa Venera old parish church) drive slowly. On the right is a gate that leads you to the Gardens.
A respite in an other wise chaotic area! If only such respites where more available in our suffocated towns! that is unless such instances are occuring right in front of your eyes........

Only people who have visited these gardens know the tranquility and the particular aura there is, once you enter.
This minor should be given community work within the gardens themselves - perhaps even looking after the cats there.

More than that, I think this young lad needs to be given at least six months community work as well as attending school as his first priority...we need to develop civic responsibility even at this young age!

The 'boy' should be asked to pay at least a nominal amount for the damage caused. This is the way that children should be educated. Was the 'boy' playing in the garden with a ball ??

You retrieve a ball and smash a statue. I don't think so.
