An Italian fisherman has rejoined his crew after being conveyed to hospital by the AFM last night for treatment to a head injury.

The Lorenza Junior was 92 nautical miles south south-east of Malta when it radioed Rome rescue centre, reporting that 46-year old Daniel Birrittieri required medical attention.

The AFM dispatched the rescue launch Melita-1 for a mid-sea rendezvous with the Lorenza Junior at 4 a.m. 10 NM off Delimara and the fisherman was immediately taken to Mater Dei Hospital.
