With just 15 days to go until the European Parliament elections, the two large countdown clocks in Kappara and Marsa have been decked out in the European Parliament election logo, with the key message Agħżel Int targeting passers-by.

The clocks have been set to countdown to Election Day on June 6. The initiative is the result of a joint effort by the European Parliament Information Office and the European Commission Representation in Malta.

Joanna Drake, head of the European Commission Representation in Malta, said the aim of the initiative was to serve as a reminder of one's responsibility to choose representatives who would make them proud European citizens.

Julian Vassallo, head of the European Parliament Information Office in Malta, reminded the people they only had 13 days left to pick up their voting document, if they had not yet received it. "Decide, or someone else will decide for you," he said.

34 candidates are contesting Malta's European Parliament elections Five will be elected. Should the Lisbon Treaty be adopted before the end of their five year term, Malta will gain a sixth seat.

The European Parliamentary elections are being held throughout the 27 EU states between June 4 and 7. The clocks are ticking and will reach their target date on midnight, June 6.
