Arraigned over sexual abuse of minors, animal cruelty

In the first quarter of 2009 the police took criminal action against 11 people on charges of sexual abuse of minors. During the same period there were 18 reports of sexual abuse of minors.

The information was given by Justice Minister Carm Mifsud Bonnici in reply to a parliamentary question by Noel Farrugia (PL).

Answering another question by the same MP, Minister Mifsud Bonnici said that also in the same period the police had taken criminal action against three people on charges of cruelty to animals. During the same period there had been six reports of such behaviour.
