A Bulgarian caught with more than one kilogramme of cocaine and heroin hidden in his suit case at the airport was remanded in custody after admitting to importing the drugs on Sunday.

Eshref Eshref, 26, had arrived on a flight from Brussels and was caught by the Drug Squad and Customs officers after they were tipped off about his arrival.

In total, the substances were found in 116 capsules hidden in the false compartment of his luggage - 92 contained cocaine and 24 heroin.

He appeared before Magistrate Miriam Hayman.

Police Inspector Dennis Theuma prosecuted.
