The Federation for Hunting and Conservation (FKNK) said this evening that it was publicly thanking the administration of the Italian national TV station RAI 3 for the latest edition of its programme GEO GEO.

"After excusing themselves for a GEO GEO programme broadcast last March, wherein they showed doubtful scenes of illegal hunting (mounted scenes from the usual non-credible anti-hunting lobby), they said that apparently such illegal hunting does not take place any longer in Malta and (they) proceeded with a beautiful feature about the Maltese Islands, history and culture," the FKNK said.

The federation said that with the help of its Italian Hunters' Organisation within FACE (the European federation of hunters' associations) it had complained strongly to RAI and the Italian embassy about the GEO GEO March programme.

Last week the federation was advised of today's (Monday's) transmission by RAI 3, and the Italian ambassador himself phoned the federation about the programme this morning.
