The President's office is seeking to employ a person with a disability, President George Abela said yesterday.
Speaking at a meeting with people with disabilities at the President's Palace in Valletta yesterday, Dr Abela insisted that "everybody has a place in society" and that the dignity of every person should be respected.
The President listened to concerns raised on issues such as education, the role of the disabled in the job sector, as well as the importance of technology.
The activity began with guided tours of the Palace, which is accessible for people with a disability. The President aims to hold a similar meeting in Gozo.
The meeting was organised with the cooperation of the National Commission for Persons with Disability.

C.Camilleri, what makes you think that a person with a disability would be a burden? Why should this employment be treated any other way then that of any other person? As you want to know what this person will be employed to do, then perhaps you might also want to take time to vet every other candidate the office of the President interviews and then employs!
What an insulting comment!

A very good way how to help a person with a disability.
Heavy fines should be imposed on those who abuse with the facilities given to these people, such parking bays and parking permits kept after the disabled dies.

is the office of the President not burden with enough expenses? It would be in the public interest if we are to know what his/her work would be.
