A 42-year-old Greek who lives in San Gwann pleaded not guilty to fraud and misappropriation to the detriment of a number of people.

Dimitrios Drosos was also accused of breaching the Lotteries Act.

He was granted bail against a deposit of €70,000 and a personal guarantee of €5,000.

Since the accused could not immediately deposit the money he is being kept at Mater Dei because of health reasons.

The court froze his assets.

BULGARIANS PLEAD GUILTY TO THEFT

Three Bulgarians have pleaded guilty to theft related crimes and were given a one-month jail term suspended to two years.

23-year-old Ginka Sandeva was charged with stealing a number of items from a handbag while 54-year-old Gergina Aleksandrova and Velinka Ilieva, 21, were charged of helping Ms Sandeva commit the crime.
