While going through the report in The Sunday Times (April 26), I was baffled when reading what the president of the Cabin Crew Union and the Air Malta chairman had to say about the fact that there was no standby crew (for the delayed Moscow flight).

How can an airline with 35 years experience operate all these flights without making sure there is back up for any ill crew, or for those who refuse to work?

A full enquiry should be carried out and if it is established that the roster does not include a standby crew, action should be taken to rectify this deficiency. If the crew took action simply to spite the company, then they should be named and shamed and grounded.
