Green government

Christabelle Pulis (The Sunday Times, May 10) hit the nail on the head.

The government aggressively applies the 'polluter pays' principle to private cars, plastic bags, etc... but those who actually profit from it, like bus owners and owners of large antiquated commercial vehicles, seem to get away scot free. The fact that this also endangers our health seems to have escaped the notice of the powers that be. So if the government cannot act, is it too much to ask the bus owners' association and commercial vehicle owners to show some corporate social responsibility?

But don't hold your breath, although in the longrun you might have to! So, is the government going to swallow this bitter pill before we all have to, one way or another?
