A court has suspended a woman's licence for three months and fined her €1,700 after she seriously injured two people and slightly injured a third in a car accident.
Rhonda Zammit, 28, was driving along the Coast Road on July 9, 2006 in her Peugeot 206 when she hit the back of a Toyota Vitz causing both cars to lose control.
The Vitz hit a wall and landed on the rocky beach while Mrs Zammit's car kept on going for 400 metres and also ended up on the rocks upside down.
Two passengers, Glenn Gorman and David Whitton, were in the car with Mrs Zammit.
Mr Gorman escaped with only abrasions on his arms and body but Mr Whitton was not so lucky and was in intensive care for a time. He was released from hospital two-and-a-half months later.
Mary Chetcuti, driving the Vitz, sustained fractured vertebra.
Mrs Zammit herself was slightly injured.
Court experts who carried out tests on both vehicles said there was nothing wrong with the cars before the accident happened.
