Could the Sliema residents of Qui-Si-Sana know when their local council is going to start respecting them as tax-paying citizens with a right to a decent environment including some habitat protection when permits are given for events taking place in their area?

It is bad enough as it is, with the frequent unhealthy hazards including noise and dust from so many building sites in a small area with bulky cranes and skips collecting refuse for weeks on end.

Last weekend the power boats did not only shatter the afternoon peace with their horrendous non-stop noise but suddenly the area was invaded by such a high amount of traffic that parking in one's residential area became a nightmare for several hours on both weekend days.

Why is it that only Sliema is not blessed with some relief parking bays for residents? Other busy towns and villages, including Valletta, found a way ahead. Priority demands this from the council before the next batch of interesting articles in a glossy magazine reaches our post boxes.
