Sliema's kiosk before the Magic Kiosk
Stan Eggleton's mention of the round kiosk in St Anne Square, Sliema (May 6) prompted me to send in this photo for The Times readers to see how it looked before being taken over from the Bonello family and turned into Magic Kiosk.

I remember well this nice old kiosk in St Ann Sqr. In fact when the new sqr was build recently i thought a similar kiosk was going to be build in same spot. Not a restaurnat just an image of the old kiosk.

Any information on how the Bonello's acquired their lease in the first place. When did they move in? Whether there was a competitive bid? If not, which authority was responsible to the allocation? Only to check when monkey business really started!!!!!!!!!!

It was still an eyesore and misplaced in the tiny St. Anne's Square. We got rid of an ugly structure which should not be replaced by another idiotic looking hut.

The photograph of Bonello's Kiosk in St Anne Square, Sliema was recently taken out of my Facebook albums along with several other pictures of Sliema, and these have been going round many countries where the Maltese are settled, including Australia. Nice to know that they are being appreciated. Albert Joseph Caruana.

@jcmicallef. Six weeks before their rent was due in 12th June 1974 the Bonellos received an eviction order from the lands Dept to vacate the place by June 30th 1974. At that time the Minister responsible for the Lands Dept was Patrick Holland who had a horrid reputation.

Thanks for sharing this photo. What sweet memories!
I thought I remembered this, but must have been very young. Any idea of the year the Bonello kiosk last operated from St. Anne Square?
