The Education Ministry, which is responsible for sports, has been ordered to pay 4,409.19 euros by the Magistrates Court after it failed to contest a writ filed against it by a car hire company.

Mark and Carmen Pace, on behalf of MarCar Services filed their writ against the Malta Football Referees Association requesting payment of E4,409.19 in respect of transport services. The ministry was later called into the suit instead of the association.

In his judgment. Magistrate Michael Mallia noted that although the ministry had been duly notified with the court case it had failed to contest the case.

The court therefore ordered the payment in favour of the car hiire company.
