I can only guess that this is the sort thing referred to.
From the GozoNews.com website: "During the first six months of 2008, the government social support agency, Appogg, dealt with 223 cases of domestic violence and 394 cases of child abuse. These figures were given in reply to a parliamentary question put by Labour MP Adrian Vassallo."

May someone enlighten me as to what 'Family Protection' means? Does it, by any chance mean that about 5% more Gozitan families (in 2008 alone) are milking subsidies from hard-working taxpayers (mostly Maltese) on the pretext of needs? If Giovanna Debono and the Gozo Ministry (sometimes referred to by the hallowed name of 'Lourdes Shrine' by many Gozitans) do not clearly issue an explanation, let alone an investigation, then I may just as well start to believe the 'holiness' of this minister's powers!

What does this mean? That families in Gozo are getting violent? If so this is very alarming for such a small population living in Gozo.
