Jutta Gauci (The Sunday Times, May 3) is quite accurate in pointing out the defects found on the pavement at Vittoriosa Waterfront.

Grand Harbour Marina will be immediately rectifying the particular situation found in the photograph published last Sunday. The height of the pavement along with illegal parking and appropriate design are among the issues that we, in conjunction with the local councils, are addressing with the government.

We are also lobbying hard for the landscaping to be carried out in the Xatt ir-Risq area. We are awaiting the government's decision to carry out the works to level the wharf and render it fit for families and general use.

The pavement area is owned by the government but Grand Harbour Marina will continue to lobby the necessary authorities to ensure compliance with the rules and regulations governing access not only for disabled people but also the public.

To this end, we welcome any suggestions on how the area can be improved.
