A spokesman for the Home Affairs and Justice Ministry has just said that the police unit assigned to deal with illegal hunting is as big as the Drug Squad and their resources "both human and otherwise" are "more than adequate".

While drug-taking and trafficking is silent, thus making it less easy to identify, we hear of drug hauls on a nearly daily basis. On the other hand, while the sound of persistent gunfire is heard daily in certain parts of Malta, only a fraction of people are reported to have disobeyed the ban on spring hunting.
