On our recent family holiday to this beautiful island, we heard a number of people talking at the lounge bar in our hotel, about the Classic Car Museum and the high standard of the cars on display. They were enjoying reminiscing about their all-time favourite cars they or their parents had owned or driven.

We decided to walk the few metres from our hotel and pay what we thought was a very reasonable fee to find out for ourselves whether our fellow compatriots were exaggerating. Believe us, they were not. To say we were amazed would be an understatement, although one cannot imagine from the outside that there are, in fact, over 85 different cars displayed in what is a very professionally fitted venue.

However, the highlight of our visit came about when we ended up taking to, who we later found out, was the owner/curator of this fabulous museum, whose knowledge of his displays is so detailed that it was a pleasure to listen to him.

We do, however, have one compliant, that is, the third-world standard of the road surfaces and pavements just outside this amazing investment.

The standard of the surrounding streets and pavements is also deplorable and such a letdown for the area.

In certain places, especially on aptly named Tourist Street, the pavements are so uneven and the bricks missing that one has to constantly look down to avoid falling.

Wake up whoever is responsible. Such standards harm tourism investments.
