Double Trap shooter William Chetcuti will take part in the ISSF World Cup in Cairo, Egypt, this week.

Under the guidance of coach Jimmy Bugeja, Chetcuti has just completed an intensive training programme. This was also intended to help the Maltese shooter become more familiar with a new gunstock made specifically for his own requisites by Italian firm Perazzi and fellow shooter Nicky Carabott.

Chetcuti, who will be defending his GSSE gold medal in Cyprus next month, will be in action on Wednesday when he will shoot in the same 150-clay competition as the world's best in Double Trap.

Meanwhile, a group of Maltese shooters were in Cyprus last weekend for a short training camp.

The MSSF contingent included Trap shooters Frans Pace and Nazzareno Attard, who have already qualified for the Cyprus Games after a selection shoot at Bidnija.

Nicky Carabott, Eugenio Borg and GSSE hopefuls Paul Vella (skeet) and his son William (air rifle) also travelled to Cyprus.

William Vella recorded scores of 584 and 571 to finish first overall in a 10M air rifle competition organised by the Cypriot Shooting Federation.
