Institute of Health and Safety courses

The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health risk assessment course by the Institute of Health and Safety, will be held on May 20. Employers and those who are self-employed have a legal duty to assess health and safety risks by carrying out a risk assessment at the workplace.

It is also the duty of employers to make sure that those who conduct the risk assessment are competent and confident enough to use this important health and safety tool.

The course is designed to ensure that those involved in the risk assessment process have the necessary depth of understanding to make and contribute effectively.

Another course on asbestos awareness will will held on June 10. Asbestos is a threat to people today. Many buildings, items of equipment, and other materials still contain asbestos.

The course will help participants understand the nature of asbestos, recognise where it is commonly found, and develop basic safety precautions to deal with asbestos.

An introduction to fire safety course will be held on June 17 and 18. Fire is a major threat and employers must ensure that the workplace is equipped with the necessary fire alarm and extinguishing systems.

This course trains staff on how fire can be prevented, what should be done and how to use the various equipment available.
