What a way to start the week. On Monday morning at 6 a.m., driving down from Naxxar to San Ġwann trying to avoid one pot hole after the other and finally failing to see the last and deepest one, my car gives up, as the front tyre, having sunk with a big bang into the hole, lets out the last gasps of air.
The tyre, which was practically new, ends up at the vulcaniser and to my dismay I am informed it cannot be repaired and has to be replaced by a new one at a cost of €150! This all because no one bothers to fill these dangerous holes.
I sent an e-mail to the San Ġwann council with photos of the holes enclosed, so that they would take the necessary action. In the evening I specifically went to check whether the work had been done. The holes were still as they were. There was a warden on the spot, so I stopped to tell him about this and he promised to call the council himself.
Two days later the pot holes were still there and no action had been taken to eliminate these hazards.
Does anybody care? No sir!
