The Malta Dockers' Union has written to the Director of Industrial Relations complaining of harassment and poaching of its members by the GWU.

MDU president Joe Saliba said dock workers who had resigned from the GWU were receiving a letter from that union, telling them that they had fallen back in the payment of their membership dues and they should pay their fee by calling at the GWU, sending a cheque or by money order.

Mr Saliba said this confirmed that the workers who had left the GWU had still remained on its books. He called on the director to inspect the books and order the removal of personal data on dock workers who had resigned. Ha also asked the director to order the GWU not to harass the workers.
