Sultry Italian singer and San Remo winner Laura Pausini will be performing live in Malta this summer as part of the 2009 European Tour to promote her latest CD album. Pausini, who is being brought to Malta by NnG Promotions, will be taking the stage at the Luxol Grounds in Pembroke on July 21.

The singer, who has an enormous fan base in Malta, is expected to sing a selection of her most well-known hits as well as new material.

“Music-lovers have come to expect one big, international concert from NnG every Summer. This has become our trademark. This year we will be offering concert-goers not one, but two major events. Laura Pausini will in fact take the stage in Pembroke just two days after Joseph Calleja and Michael Bolton perform together at the same venue,” NnG representative Nigel Camilleri said.

Nng Promotions have organised a number of large-scale entertainment events in the recent past. Other concerts organised by the events company include Roger Waters, Brian Adams, Sting, Elton John, Eros Ramazzotti and Duran Duran. These two upcoming concerts are set to make it another magical summer and to give a good push to the entertainment scene in Malta.

The Calleja & Bolton concert is a one of a kind event which is expected to bring together both classical music and pop music lovers with a unique repertoire of well-known pieces that are well-loved by everyone. Pausini, on the other hand, is sure to attract the thousands of Maltese who follow the Italian music scene with passion.

“Laura Pausini has a large following and substantial fan base in Malta. We are pleased to be the ones to be bringing this singer to Malta,” Mr Camilleri said.

The top-selling musician began her career in 1993 when she took part in the San Remo Festival with La Solitudine. The ballad won her first prize in the New Artists category. After San Remo, Pausini went on to release her debut, self-titled album and the disc reached double-platinum sales in Italy, selling over 400,000 copies. The album propelled her onto the European circuit and since then Pausini has become a household name all across Europe, including Malta. She has released over 10 albums and has also performed with internationally acclaimed artists such as Luciano Pavarotti, James Blunt, Andrea Bocelli, Ray Charles and Michael Buble. Phil Collins also wrote a song especially for her, Looking For An Angel.

Pausini will be visiting Malta as part of her Laura Pausini Tour 2009, which is set to promote her latest album, Invece No. The album, which was released last November, was received by rave reviews and immediately shot up in the top selling list.

“Laura Pausini’s concert will undoubtedly be a truly memorable event. The Vodafone brand is about providing customers with the contact, the information and the entertainment they want and need to lead as full a life as possible. It is this vision which motivates Vodafone Malta to support such big events bringing the top artists to Malta and to assist in the organisation of such major events. We are delighted to be part of this dynamic event as Laura Pausini is definitely an icon in the music industry”, said Inaki Berroeta, Vodafone Malta Chief Executive Officer.

Ticket prices start from €35.
