Nationalist MEP David Casa insisted today that EU funding procedures should not be mired by excessive bureacracy.
He made his comment when he visited the headquarters of the Fondazzjoni Temi Zammit (FTZ), which managed to tap into EU funding.
Mr Casa said that EU funding has provided a wealth of opportunities to many private enterprises, non-governmental organizations, workers, students and other social groups. Fondazzjoni Temi Zammit was a brilliant example of this success.
“EU funding is crucial for the development of our society and we must make sure that no EU funding opportunity is lost in the coming five years. Furthermore, the EU should strive to be less bureaucratic with anyone applying for financial aid. At times local organizations end up losing help from EU due to endless red tape,” Mr. Casa said.
FTZ has launched 40 co-financed EU projects that have been of benefit to SMEs, local councils, University students and youth.
During his visit, Mr Casa was shown around by Jesmond Xuereb, FTZ Secretary General.
